MEET THE SUB MOA CREW
I am the founder of Sub MOA Gear. My journey in the gun world began during high school when my dad bought me a Ruger 10/22 for Christmas. We quickly took it up as a hobby, wanting to shoot further and further. As I graduated high school, my new interest in firearms led me to begin gunsmithing school at Trinidad State Junior College. After graduating, our family moved to Evansville, Indiana, where I earned my second degree in machine tool technology (CNC). I continue to go to school to this day, pursing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering technology. During these years between high school and moving to Evansville, my dad and I traveled during our vacations, shooting at ranges across the country. This led me to start shooting ELR and PRS competitions in 2023 after settling down in Evansville. As I shot competition, I found that I wanted some custom accessories to help improve my shooting. This is when I bought a 3D printer, and thus, Sub MOA Gear was born. Since then, I have developed a series of products to help fulfill needs in the shooting community.
I am a cofounder of Sub MOA Gear. My journey in the gun world started when I was looking for a hobby my son and I could take up together. Our love for long-range shooting began after I bought a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor. We found ourselves getting bored shooting 100 yards, so we began to shoot further and further, stretching the RPR to one mile. This led to the adoption of the Desert Tech SRS and, eventually, the HTI platforms. In 2019, my son, while at gunsmithing schools, helped build a custom .375 Cheytac so I could begin shooting ELR. Durning my first ELR competition in Raton, New Mexico, I met a group of great guys in the Fifty Caliber Shooting Association. They convinced me to stay for the 1000-yard 50BMG match. I was hooked and quickly got myself a 50BMG capable rifle (Desert Tech® HTI). Since then, I have shot both disciplines, but the best part about shooting is spending time with my son and all the friends I have found while traveling the country shooting competitions.
The Sub MOA Crew consists of, Conner Kierstead (son), Scott Kierstead (father), and a network of shooting friends and family we have developed across the country and the industry. The Sub MOA crew shoots competitively across many disciplines including PRS, ELR, 1000-yard 50BMG, and hunt around the world.
